Sport Apps for Surface Windows RT 8

A few days ago we reported the launch of the official ESPN app for Windows 8 and Windows RT. Now, another major professional sporting organization has decided to join the growing Windows 8 bandwagon. The official NASCAR Windows 8 app is now available for download for free. This app which runs on both Windows 8 and Windows RT allows fans of the NASCAR league to access news, videos of races and the complete racing schedule.

One would be forced to imagine whether the timing of the release of the app is correct, as the 2012 NASCAR season has just ended and all that the app currently displays as major news is the “Champions Week” event that happened earlier this week in Las Vegas. The “Champions Week” is the time when NASCAR hands out the awards for the best drivers of the just concluded season. One of the awardees this time was 2012 Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski.

For some real news however, NASCAR fans will have to wait till January when things start to get hot once more. NASCAR, which is one of the biggest professional sporting events in the US is probably the first when it comes to launching of an official app for Windows 8. Hopefully the other professional sporting organizations such as NHL, NBA, MLB and NFL will also come up with apps of their own. Speaking of NHL, probably in their case it would be best for them to wait till the players and their teams can settle their current differences.
