Surface tablet in germany

A unique model of the Microsoft Surface tablet is currently being auctioned on the German website of eBay. According to a neowin.net report, a Surface RT tablet unit signed by Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, is being offered on the website. Proceeds of the sale will be used for a worthy cause.

Images of the 32GB model of the tablet that uses the Windows RT of Microsoft were posted on the auction page of eBay Germany. The device was signed by Ballmer during a developer event for the Windows 8 in Berlin near the start of the month. Developers who joined the event were given free unit of the tablet.

The income taken from the auction of the signed Microsoft tablet will be used for the annual Christmas party for young cancer patients at the Campus Virchow-Klinikum in Berlin. Aside from the annual Christmas party, part of the proceeds will also be used in meeting some requests that were made by some of the young patients this year.

The signed Microsoft Surface tablet unit is only available to bidders in Germany, which means bidders who are not in the country will not be able to bid on the device. For the moment, the highest bid made on the signed Surface RT tablet unit was at 1,500 euros. The auction is scheduled to end on December 5.
