Surface tablet Apps

Each passing day brings new apps to the Windows 8 and Windows RT. Yet, concerns have surfaced that some of the biggest names and much anticipated third party apps have not yet surfaced on the Windows Store. For sports fans however the only app that they would have loved to see on the store has just been released.

If you search by the name ESPN on the Windows Store, the ESPN app would now come up in results. As expected, the app provides updates for games, news coverage for the major sporting events around the world, podcasts for events covered by ESPN, photos and even video highlights. An user can further tweak the home screen tiles to have the app update real time scores and sports news.

One can create an account via the ESPN app or simply by logging using their Facebook accounts. Once logged in users will be able to select their favorite sports leagues (currently however the following – NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball are available for selection) and teams (which of course can only be from the leagues mentioned above).

ESPN app for Windows 8 and Windows RT was showcased at the BUILD 2012 by Microsoft’s CEO Steve Ballmer back in October 30th. A further update of the Xbox 360 app done earlier this month promises additional content via WatchESPN.
