acer microsoft surface

Acer’s President, J T Wong has been critical about Microsoft’s decision to launch a tablet as well as his opinions on the Windows 8 platform. Even back in July 2012 he mentioned in unequivocal terms that Microsoft should reconsider its decision to launch the Surface RT as it might have immense adverse effect on the PC hardware industry.

In an interview conducted by CES 2013 Wong mentioned AllThingsD.com that Microsoft has not struck the right notes when it came to marketing the Surface and has been at the best “confusing to consumers.” In its apparent attempt to make the
promotions too keyboard focused Microsoft has simply lost the bus on maximizing the touch experience.

When asked about his opinions on the Windows 8 platform he added, on top of his precious comment that it is too premature to make a comment whether the new platform will be successful, he added that it is best if Microsoft and Acer worked together to understand what the customers feel about the new platform.

Acer to its credit has launched a number of tablets and touchscreen based notebooks that are based on the Windows 8 operating system. Reports state that Acer is planning to launch a new tablet that is based on the Windows 8 OS and cheaper than the current crop of tablets that Acer has. However at this time no further details are available.
