Surface RT Sales

It is now an open secret that Microsoft’s Surface RT has made a slow start. UBS analyst Brent Thill opined that the Surface RT sales just one million units, a far cry from the estimate of two million that he was earlier hoping they would break. For comparison it is worth mentioning that Apple sold well over 20 million iPads in the comparative period. This is simple and clear as crystal, people prefer to go the iOS way rather than the RT way. Additionally Brent believes that the narrow distribution network that Microsoft preferred to make things worse for them in the last quarter. Microsoft was selling the Surface RT only through its own stores and not until the New Year that they started selling the Surface through other channels.

Brent however does have some hopes for the Surface Pro. He believes that the Surface Pro which is a much faster and more robust system running on an Intel processor would be a good deal more to the liking of the business people. When it does launch the Surface Pro should be a good alternative to the iPad.
