windows 8 devices

The Surface RT tablet leads a number of devices that have the Windows 8 or the Windows RT as their operating system according to a recent AdDuplex report. The report indicated that information from the ad network of AdDuplex, an online advertising firm, made the revelation last December.

The results of another research by AdDuplex for the first half of this month revealed that the Microsoft Surface tablet was not only on top of the rankings, it also increased its share of the market. Its share of the market last December was only at six percent, but the figures for January revealed that it has 7.6 percent of the market. This increase may be attributed to the increase in the retail outlets for the Windows RT device last December. The figures shown by AdDuplex were taken from 112 Windows Store applications that are running the SDK of the company last January 14.

More than 7,400 devices are using the Windows 8 or the Windows RT on AdDuplex. In comparison only 5,500 devices were using the latest operating systems of Microsoft last December. In November, the number was limited to 3,000 devices. The information also revealed a continuing increase in the number of Windows 8 upgrades from older versions of Windows.

For the moment, the biggest market share of all Windows 8 devices goes to HP with 23 percent. Asus and Dell are in second place with 10 percent. In third place is Acer with 9 percent while Toshiba rounds off the top four with 8 percent.
