surface pro battery life

The Surface AMA of Microsoft on Reddit discussed a number of concerns on the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, according to a report from theverge.com. Aside from answering questions on the battery life and storage, the Surface Team also hinted at the surface pro accessories that will be available for the device. The Surface Team indicated that the new connectors under the device were not an accident since they have a purpose.

A team member indicated that the connectors appear to have more pogo pins than usual.

The Surface Team indicated that it discussed the accessory spine during the launch and alluded to other peripherals that will allow users to do more than just click on them. The connectors appear to have been designed to carry an increased current than the existing pogo pins. The connectors found of the Surface Pro tablet appear to have some slight modifications compared to the ones found on the Surface RT tablet.

Microsoft also hinted that the extra points may allow a stronger current to pass through. The company also indicated that offering an external battery or a bigger keyboard cover will make it necessary to extend the design of the accessory spine in order to carry a bigger current between the main battery and the peripheral.

For the moment, the Surface Pro tablet can be charged through the connector located along the side of the device. However, connectors found at the tablet’s base appear to allow additional accessories in the future. It may allow the tablet to be charged using a dock connector. It may also allow some covers that can charge the device or an external battery that can be easily connected into the Surface Pro tablet.

However, Microsoft has reportedly indicated that it will not be making its own dock for the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet.
