Windows RT Tablets

AdDuplex, an online advertising network, which had been tracking access of their network from various devices running Windows 8 and RT had reported earlier (about a few weeks into the launch of the Microsoft 8 and RT based tablets) that the Surface RT Tablet was definitely leading the race for all RT/Windows 8 devices.

Back in the middle of November, AdDuplex reported that the total market share for Windows Surface RT was around 11%. In other words they reported that almost 11% of the apps that accessed their network were running on the Surface RT device.

Last Tuesday AdDuplex released their updated Windows RT and 8 figures for the week ended December 7th. As per the new figures Surface RT still leads when it comes to pcs however their rankings have taken a beating and are now at # 6. HP’s three inexpensive pcs, the HP 2000, the HP Pavilion g5 and the HP Pavilion g7 make up the next position. Taking the eight spot on the list is the Asus VivoTab RT.

The drop of Surface RT to the sixth position is not however difficult to explain. There has been a number of new launches from PC OEMs in the last few weeks running Windows 8 and RT. So much so that AdDuplex is currently tracking more than 5500 different widows 8 and RT devices on the network. This is a quantum jump from 3000 that they had reported only a few weeks ago. However this could also mean that a lot of users have upgraded their older pcs to Windows 8 in the recent weeks.

HP has been the most dominant force in the market with 22% share, followed by Dell at 10%. Asus and Acer with 9% each and Toshiba with a share of 7 % make up the field. Microsoft had a spectacular drop from #2 to #6 on the new list.
