asus windows 8 tablet

The 2013 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) has been dominated so far by the presence of new tablets and most of them are Windows 8 ones. In spite of the fact that Asus has not launched any new Windows Phones, they have hogged a lot of limelight by the launch of three new Windows 8 tablets and one smart Ultrabook.

The ASUS VivoTab is a new 10.1” screen tablet powered by Windows 8 and a Intel Atom Z2760 dual-core processor beating at its heart. The tablet is only 9.7mm in thickness and weighs 580 grams. Asus boasts that the tablet will have a 1366×768 HD resolution. The tablet will have two cameras, one at the front with two megapixel and another one at the back with eight megapixel along with a NFC sensor. Also featured is a ASUS SonicMaster Audio. But the most striking feature of the tablet and one that makes it comparable with the Surface RT is the “TranSleeve Keyboard”. This keyboard doubles up as a cover for the tablet and as a stand, the same as the Touch Cover of the Microsoft Surface RT.

The ASUS Transformer Book TX300 on the other hand is a perfect synergy between a notebook and a tablet. This convertible Ultrabook transforms into a tablet as soon as one detaches the keyboard. It features an Intel Core i7 processor at its heart and comes with HD4000 graphics. The 13” full HD display of the convertible Ultrabook boasts a 1920×1080 pixels resolution and multi-touch capabilities. The Ultrabook also comes with Ass SSD and HDD storage, 4GB of DDR3 Dual Channel memory, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0 making the Transformer Book TX300 a serious contender in the market.

The ASUS Tranformer AiO is yet another tablet launched by Asus which can be safely said to be a tablet and a high performance computer merged into one. The tablet comes with an extended 18.4” screen with 10 point touch, LED-backlit and IPS display. It boasts the 3rd Generation Intel Core processor at its heart and can switch between Windows 8 and Android 4.1 effortlessly as per the needs of the user.

The ASUS TAICHI Ultrabook/Tablet rounds up the discussion it comes in both 11.6″ and 13.3″ display sizes and have a double sided LED backlit IPS/FHD displays. When folded the TAICHI works as a tablet and when open it transforms itself as an Ultrabook.

At this point however Asus has not revealed anything about the pricing of these tablets. All these Windows 8 tablets/Ultrabooks are scheduled to be shipped out later this year.
